Unprecedented Meeting Connects Palestinian and Foreign Journalists With Gaza Reporters Amid War
RAMALLAH /GAZA / PNN – Monjed Jadou -The Palestine Journalism Hub on Monday hosted an unprecedented virtual meeting bringing together Palestinian journalists from across historic Palestine and foreign correspondents with reporters in Gaza, highlighting the perilous reality of journalism under Israel’s ongoing war on the enclave.The two-hour event, held via Zoom, linked journalists in several locations, including a room inside a bombed house in Gaza City and the Abdel Hamid Shoman Foundation in Ramallah. Participants included reporters from the West Bank, Jerusalem, Palestinian communities inside Israel, and international media outlets.Shorouq Al-Asaad, director of the Palestine Journalism Hub, said the initiative aimed to strengthen professional ties and shed light on “an unprecedented level of danger and targeting” facing journalists in Gaza. She added that the gathering sought to document how reporters there continue their work despite relentless bombardment and threats to their lives and families.Gaza journalists described their daily struggle to report amid constant airstrikes and destruction. Speaking from a damaged home after sending their families to safer areas, reporters Mohammed Abu Namous, Ahmed Al-Madhoon, Saber Nour Al-Din and Abdel Hakim Abu Riyash detailed the risks of remaining in the besieged city.Journalists Salma Al-Qaddoumi and Mohammed Abu Shaar joined from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, while reporter Taghreed Al-Amour spoke from abroad, where she was travelling when the war began.From Ramallah, journalists from the West Bank, Jerusalem and Palestinian communities inside Israel expressed solidarity with their Gaza colleagues and underscored the importance of continued dialogue.Nidal Rafee, a journalist from 48 occupied land, thanked Gaza reporters for sharing their experiences despite the danger.International journalists also listened as their Palestinian counterparts voiced frustration over what they described as the international community’s failure to protect press freedom and halt attacks on media workers.Al-Asaad closed the meeting by thanking participants and reaffirming plans to hold further sessions to support Gaza’s journalists and maintain professional connections amid the ongoing conflict.

kategorijski uredimo i prezentujemo korinicima kroz „Novi Internet
