Cairo / PNN/ Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdel Ati, on Thursday emphasized the necessity of rebuilding Gaza’s infrastructure and ensuring the safe, swift, and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid.The remarks came during a meeting between Minister Abdel Ati and the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Haja Habib, according to the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tamim Khalaf.In a press statement, the spokesperson said that Abdel Ati “welcomed the positive developments in Egypt’s relations with the European Union since the joint announcement in March 2024 regarding the elevation of relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.”Abdel Ati affirmed Egypt’s commitment to continuing efforts to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, within the framework of implementing the six pillars of the strategic partnership.He also highlighted the shared responsibility of the international community in addressing geopolitical crises and refugee and migration challenges, noting “the burdens borne by Egypt as a result of hosting millions of foreigners affected by neighboring crises.”Abdel Ati briefed the European official on the latest developments in Gaza and efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in line with the Trump Plan, pointing to preparations for hosting the international conference on early recovery, reconstruction, and development in Gaza.He also welcomed the convening of the first Palestine Donor Group meeting in Brussels on November 20, expressing hope for active participation from the European Union and its member states in financing reconstruction, and stressed the importance of activating European mechanisms supporting the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority and strengthening its budget.According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the meeting also addressed developments in Sudan, where Abdel Ati condemned the serious violations that occurred in Al-Fashir, and reviewed Egypt’s efforts within the Quad Mechanism to halt the conflict and preserve Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity.He emphasized the “importance of humanitarian aid delivery and respect for Sudanese sovereignty,” noting Egypt’s “readiness to facilitate aid access and cooperate with international institutions.”The meeting also discussed developments in Lebanon, where Abdel Ati reaffirmed Egypt’s consistent position supporting Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, security, and stability. He reiterated Egypt’s firm stance on respecting Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, rejecting any actions or interventions that could undermine stability, and called for the activation of a comprehensive political process to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people.According to the statement, the European Commissioner praised Egypt’s efforts to support peace and stability in the region and the role Egypt has played in securing the ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, reaffirming the EU’s support for Egypt’s efforts and its commitment to continue strengthening the strategic partnership with Egypt.
