Prosecutors drop appeal in Auer and Ihle sexual offences case
Finland’s Prosecutor General will not appeal the acquittals of Anneli Auer and Jens Ihle in a long-running sexual offences case that led to prison sentences later overturned by the courts.
The decision means the April ruling by the District Court of Southwest Finland will stand and become legally binding. The court cleared Auer and Ihle of all sexual abuse and violence charges linked to allegations involving Auer’s children.
The case has lasted close to two decades and became one of Finland’s most discussed criminal proceedings.
