Jobs fears at Limerick’s Live95

FEARS of job losses have been raised at Limerick’s Live 95 FM radio station on foot of a review by the Rupert Murdoch owned Onic media group. Station director Joe Nash, is to stand down from his position as director and presenter of the Limerick Today morning show, it is understood. He has been with the station for more than 25 years. Directors at four of the Onic-owned radio stations including Live 95, Cork’s 96FM, Dublin’s FM104 and Louth’s LMFM are leaving their roles as part of the review.  of operations at audio and media giant Onic. The restructuring is understood to be aimed at centralising some operations across the group. According to filed returns, earnings at Onic had reduced from €2.73m to €2.2m in the 12 months to last June. Reduced revenues and increased costs are behind the 19% reduction. Onic brands in Ireland include Dublin’s Q102’ and FM104, Cork’s 96fm and C103, Live 95 in Limerick, LMFM and U105 in Belfast. Its sales house also represents Galway Bay FM and WLR “While the landscape remains challenging for all media businesses, we remain focused on evolving Onic to ensure our long term success, leaning on digital transformation, operational efficiency and a proven track record of delivering great content to our loyal listeners,” an Onic spokesperson said.
