11 killed as Israel escalates attacks across Lebanon
Eleven people were killed and five others wounded on Friday as Israel intensified attacks on several areas in southern Lebanon, Lebanese official media reported, said Xinhua.
Eight Syrian nationals were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Hartiyeh area near the coastal town of Adloun, the National News Agency reported.
A municipal police officer was killed in a drone strike on the village of Abaa, it said.
Separately, two people were killed and five wounded when a house was struck shortly after midnight in the village of Tayr Debba in the Tyre district, it added.
Hezbollah said in a series of statements that it launched multiple strikes on Israeli soldiers and military vehicles along the Lebanon-Israel border.
In a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that achieving a ceasefire is the key first step and necessary foundation for tackling all other pressing issues.
Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center said that between March 2 and May 29, Israeli attacks in Lebanon had killed 3,355 people and wounded 10,095.
