K3.9 Billion funding gap poses challenge for Connect PNG Programme
While Papua New Guinea’s Connect PNG Programme continues to deliver major infrastructure gains, the Department of Works and Highways has revealed a significant funding gap impacting implementation timelines.
The 2025 Annual Performance Report, tabled in Parliament by Minister for Works Peter Tsiamalili Jr, shows that between 2020 and 2025, the Department requested K11.821 billion in capital funding, while total government appropriations amounted to K7.853 billion, leaving a shortfall of approximately K3.967 billion.
