Iraqi oil supplies to US completely halt
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) revealed on Sunday that the United States did not purchase oil from Iraq throughout the last week, while Canada topped the list of the largest suppliers of crude to the US market.
According to the EIA, Canada was the leading supplier of crude oil to the United States during the previous week, delivering an average of 3.8 million barrels per day. Following Canada, Venezuela supplied 483,000 barrels per day, while Mexico contributed 260,000 barrels per day.
During the week, the United States imported 190,000 barrels per day from Ecuador, 177,000 barrels per day from Brazil, 134,000 barrels per day from Colombia, and 130,000 barrels per day from Libya, local news outlet Shafaq News reported.
The United States imported no oil from Saudi Arabia and Nigeria during the same period.
Iraqi oil supplies to the United States averaged 71,000 barrels per day during the week ending June 19. However, these supplies then ceased.
The United States consumes over 20 million barrels of oil each day, making it the world’s largest consumer.
