Egypt is among the top 10 fastest-growing countries globally in inbound tourism
Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, affirmed that Egypt aims to become the world’s most diverse tourist destination, adding that his country’s tourism sector continues to achieve positive growth rates despite regional unrest.
During his meeting with members of the Youth Coordination of Parties and Politicians on Monday, the minister indicated that Egypt achieved four percent growth in the number of inbound tourists during the first half of this year, placing it among the top ten countries globally in terms of inbound tourism growth rates.
The minister outlined the six pillars of the ministry’s strategy:
Enhancing the competitiveness of tourism investment
Diversifying tourism products
Developing human resources
Improving oversight and governance mechanisms
Promoting sustainability and digital transformation
Implementing effective tourism marketing
He noted that the ministry is working to launch an investment platform by mid-2027 to streamline investment procedures, and is continuing its efforts to increase hotel capacity and regulate tourist vacation units.
Fathy explained that the ministry has established marketing partnerships with several major global digital platforms – including Google, TikTok, YouTube, TripAdvisor, Expedia, and Amadeus – which will contribute to reaching target markets and enhancing the promotion of Egypt as a tourist destination.
