Foreign Affairs CEO and Venezuelan Ambassador discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation

By Zoila Palma: On July 13, 2026, Oscar Arnold, Chief Executive Officer for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, welcomed Gerardo Argote, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, for a courtesy call. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in culture, technology and capacity building, as well as the recent earthquakes that affected Venezuela. CEO Arnold took the opportunity to express Belize’s heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of life and discussed Belize’s continued support, including assistance toward the restoration of Venezuela’s electricity infrastructure. He also welcomed the strong multi-country humanitarian response and reaffirmed that the Government of Belize stands in solidarity with the Venezuelan people during this difficult time. Ambassador Argote expressed gratitude to the Government and People of Belize for the assistance provided in the aftermath of the disaster and for Belize’s continued solidarity with Venezuela.
