Neighbours end up in court after fight over money but make up and ride home together because friends are forever
By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Belize City neighbours who ended up in court following a physical altercation appeared to have settled their differences after they were ordered to keep the peace for one year. Randy Nigel Lino, a maintenance worker of Mahogany Street, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with wounding his neighbour, KBH security guard Michael Brown. Lino admitted that he punched Brown in the face. He told the court that the dispute arose over money Brown allegedly owed him, while Brown said the confrontation began after Lino used derogatory language toward him. Brown told the court that he was disappointed their disagreement had escalated into a criminal matter and believed that, as grown men and neighbours, they should have been able to resolve it peacefully. Lino was fined $400, plus $5 in court costs, and was given until October 31, 2026, to pay. In default, he will serve four months in prison. Both men were also bound over to keep the peace for one year in the sum of $500 each. The neighbours appeared to have immediately put the court’s order into practice. After leaving the courthouse together, Brown reportedly gave Lino a ride home on his motorcycle.
