Climate Finance Unit hosts focus group to develop Belize Climate Investment Platform

By Zoila Palma:  On July 14, 2026, the Ministry of Economic Transformation, through its Climate Finance Unit, convened a stakeholder focus group with key sector ministries to support the development of the Belize Climate Investment Platform (BCIP). The session was led by Anisa Nah, Proposal Development Officer and Green Climate Fund (GCF) Focal Point, and Carlos Itza, Green Climate Fund (GCF) Liaison Officer, who facilitated discussions on strengthening Belize’s climate investment framework. The Climate Finance Unit noted that the session provided an important space for stakeholders to share perspectives on Belize’s climate investment priorities, country ownership, governance and coordination, and the practical challenges affecting the development of investment-ready climate projects. The Ministry of Economic Transformation says that it remains committed to strengthening Belize’s climate finance architecture and ensuring that national institutions remain at the center of shaping the country’s climate investment agenda.
