LIMERICK IN PHOTOS: Sunshine and culture at 7th Limerick Wild Geese Festival

SUNSHINE, history, culture, music, and commemoration were the orders of the day at the seventh annual Limerick Wild Geese Festival, which took place on Shannonside across last weekend. Events throughout the festival featured a wreath-laying ceremony at the Patrick Sarsfield statue in John’s Square, a moving memorial ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral, a Wild Geese gala banquet at the Hunt Museum, and a range of musical performances and historical talks. Organisers estimate that, across last year’s festival, more than €750,000 was generated for the local economy through tourism, hospitality, and cultural visitor spending. They estimate this year’s festival will build on that with a €1million boon for the local economy.
