Two charged with murder of Scarlett Faulkner
A WOMAN and a teenage girl have been charged with the murder of 29-year-old Limerick mother Scarlett Faulkner.
The new charges were brought on the woman, aged 40, and the teenager, aged 17, who were each charged after directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The pair appeared before the District Court in Nenagh this Wednesday, each charged with the murder of Scarlett Faulkner.
Last March, Gardaí alleged during bail hearings for both accused that the accused girl struck Ms Faulkner’s head with an iron bar at least 11 times.
Gardaí told a previous bail hearing that they responded to a report of an alleged violent assault near Birdhill, County Tipperary, on March 21 last, and found Ms Faulkner lying on the R494 road with critical head injuries.
Gardaí said Ms Faulkner, a young mother of one, was airlifted from the scene to University Hospital Limerick and later transferred to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where she remained in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Ms Faulkner died from her injuries on April 13 after her life support was turned off at CUH on April 12.
